Mr and Mrs Reed

I had been really looking forward to Nicole and Jeremy’s wedding day all summer.  Not just because their wedding was being held at a venue that I really wanted to shoot at.  But, because the venue matched their personalities so perfectly.  I was excited to see how they would tie it all together.  The Smog Shoppe is just that, an old automotive shop that was turned into a wedding venue.  And not just any wedding venue.  A totally green wedding venue (read more about it on their site).  Nicole and Jeremy live in Venice.  They are both writers.  They love their bikes.  They are both very cool without trying to be cool.  Totally unpretentious.

Some weddings are very beautiful.  But, with all the over the top details you can lose site of the whole reason why you are at the wedding.  The details at Nicole and Jeremy’s wedding were also beautiful, yet personal.  You never forgot that the reason you were there was to celebrate the love between the two of them.  A close friend married the two of them.  The readings that they had weren’t your traditional readings, but had special meaning to the couple.  The toasts were heartfelt.  It was perfect.

Nicole and her bridesmaids got ready at the Hotel Erwin in Venice Beach.  The suite overlooked the boardwalk.  Totally perfect setting.

The wedding party took this super fun bus to the Smog Shoppe.  The artist who painted it happens to be a local favorite of Nicole and Jeremy’s.

Instead of a best man, Jeremy had a best person.  His sister.  He was her best person at her wedding.  Love that.

I loved this moment.  Jeremy’s hand was shaking so bad he had to steady it when Nicole put his ring on.

I love the veil- what a beautiful thing to keep in mind two special women that came before. And the bother/sister picture is awsome (and btw the grooms sister totally rocks the “guys” picture!). The pictures make me teary- you can feel the day through them- especially the one of the bride looking at her relaxed hubby during the reception. Congrats newlyweds!
