Mr and Mrs Kushi

My last first wedding of the year.  I think I have decided that I am no longer going to be booking weddings after this year.  It’s a hard decision to make, but one that has been on my heart for a long time.  I don’t want to miss a single second of my kids lives and booking weddings so far in advance means missing birthday parties, kids sports, and my own friends weddings.  It’s an easy decision to make when I haven’t shot a wedding in six months.  But, now that I had my first wedding of the year the decision isn’t as easy.

Or at least Yvonne and Jon haven’t made my decision so easy.  See, when I shoot a wedding like theirs it’s hard not to love my job.  When the love is so evident and effortless.  When I have butterflies in my stomach when they see each other for the first time.  When I have tears in my eyes as they exchange their vows.  How could I not love my job when I am so lucky to document a couple like Yvonne and Jon’s love?

So, we’ll see if I stick to my decision or not.  It’s easier said than done :)

Yvonne and Jon were married at the beautiful Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles.  I absolutely loved shooting with the skyscrapers towering above us.  I had never been to the concert hall before and was just astounded by it’s beauty.  I can see why Yvonne and Jon waited two years (and changed their wedding date!) to get married there.  Not only is it spectacular, but the staff was so kind and accomodating.

Platinum Weddings by Kerrie did a fabulous job bringing Yvonne’s vision to life.  I was so in love with their monogram and love how it was used in so many different places.

I think Jon likes fast cars.  Yvonne got him an exotic car tour for his wedding gift.

Breathtaking, right?

The day couldn’t have been more perfect!  Thank you Yvonne and Jon for including me.  It has been such an honor working with you for the last two years!  Now, move back to LA so I can photograph your baby pictures when you start a family!  :)

I just decided to not do weddings anymore either, and I’m no where nearly as talented as you are. My son plays sports almost year round, and I hate missing his games. I know I will be much happier having my weekends free and not having to spend hours on the computer editing all of the images. You do such amazing work, and I look forward to your blog posts. Thanks for sharing your awesome talent.

Thank you for your kind words, Lisa! It’s a hard decision, but I know in my heart it’s the right one :)

  4. Fantastic job. I love this one so much. Great job with all the cityscape photos. Also, may I commend you on your knack for shooting in bright, high light. You’d never know by looking….never an upflattering shadow.
