Baby Riley

I was beyond excited when Kari and Shane asked me to shoot their new baby boy’s first pictures. Not just because Kari and Shane happened to be one of my very first weddings (you’ll recognize Kari from the very first image on my site, which is one of my all time favorite images), but also because their little boy was born exactly one year after my little boy! Kari and I even had similar birth experiences (both induced and both ended up with c-sections).

Riley really couldn’t have done any better for his pictures. He was just the perfect baby sleeping the whole time and only pooping on Shane once (yeah, I’m not going to lie, it was gross!). He’s just such a gorgeous baby and I love how calm and collected Kari and Shane are. I was definitely not that calm when Brayden was 13 days old!

Kari and Shane, thank you so much for inviting me into your home! It was so great to catch up with you two and see your beautiful home. Riley is perfect and I wouldn’t expect anything less coming from you two Enjoy your pictures!

Mr. & Mrs. Pallares

What?!? A wedding on my blog? I know. It’s been a while. But, it was worth the wait!

I told Heidi and Chris that they were my favorite couple of the year. But, Heidi, being the avid blog reader that she is, called me out on it when she realized that they were my first wedding of the year I just love these two so much. It was one of those weddings where I teared up several times throughout the day. The first time was right after Heidi put her dress on and I was taking her picture next to the window. She started to tear up and said, “I’m having a very surreal moment right now”. And that totally made me start crying because I remember having the same exact feeling on my wedding day. I try to be professional, but sometimes my emotions get the better of me

Heidi and Chris were married at Il Cielo in Beverly Hills. They got ready at the Beverly Wilshire hotel and being the weekend of the Oscars I knew we would see some stars (I saw Tracy Morgan in the lobby). It was an elegant location for a very elegant and sophisticated couple. I’m so happy the weather was great and there was no rain! Yeah! The flowers were exquisite. Bliss Fine Florals did an amazing job!

Heidi and Chris, it has been so special to work with you two. I love everything about your love story. You two were just mean to be together and it shows. Thank you so very much for allowing me to be a part of your day! Here’s your slideshow!

Day With Drew V3.0

I watched the weather closely this past week. We’ve been getting so much darn rain in So Cal and I did not want this mentoring session to get rained out! Luckily by Friday it said the forecast for Sunday was going to be cloudy. Cold and cloudy, but no rain. Yeah!

Megan from Megan Ann Photography came up from San Diego. She was the first one to book a mentoring session once I blogged about it and from reading her blog I knew she would be a fun girl to hang out with. I already knew she was a great photographer too from her blog. But, like most of the people I have sessions scheduled with, Megan works a full time job and she’s trying to figure out how to run a photography business while working full time. I worked full time for the first year and a half of my business so I can totally relate. It’s hard. But, it helps when you’re super passionate about it. And passion is definitely something Megan has so I know she will be super successful in this industry!

We talked about all of the normal things I discuss during these sessions – package pricing, marketing, albums, shooting, editing, etc. And then we had a rad shoot lined up with Ashley and Jeff. Ashley was a bridesmaid in Janelle and David’s wedding and she was so cute and nice from the second I met her. Ashley is the next up for a Day with Drew so stay tuned for more on her in the next couple of weeks.
