The Maddux Family

When I got out of my car to meet the Maddux family for their session little Sawyer jumped out of the car and came up to me, “Drew!  I want to see the tractor!  Drew!  I want to see the trucks!  Drew!”.  Mind you, I have never met this little guy before, but he was already my BFF.  I love that!  Sawyer reminds me so much of Brayden.  He’s a whole year older so obviously he speaks much better, but a lot of the things he said and the way he said it made me think of B.  And then when I was editing the images I realized they looked even more alike than I realized.  The same pale skin, blue eyes, and tossled hair!

And little Saige was just a doll.  So easy to work with and happy!  Love the 8 month age for babies!  They are usually so easy going!  It helps that Ron does the best Elmo impression I’ve ever heard!  I’m going to have to pay him to come on shoots and entertain kids!  And I had so much fun meeting Tara finally!  She’s so fun and easy going it’s no wonder her kids are the same!  Loved hanging out with this family!  Here’s the slideshow!

Mom*tog Unposing Guide

I am SO excited to announce that the Mom*tog Unposing Guide is finally done and ready for purchase!  The Unposing Guide is for professional photographers (or pros in training) who want to learn how to take more relaxed and fun family portraits.  What is an Unpose? It’s a means to get to the reactions and interactions I want from my clients. It’s a way to break the habit of saying “Cheese!”. And a way to break the ice. Every time I use an Unpose I get different results because each family is unique and different. I love capturing families being themselves at that particular stage in their lives. I don’t want to pose them and make them something they’re not. Sometimes it’s the Unpose I want to photograph and other times it’s the reaction from the Unpose I want. Both are great for capturing relaxed and natural family sessions!

The Simmons Family

One of the great things about my photography business is that it has reconnected me to old friends.  Nicole is one of those friends.  Nicole and I grew up together.  Playing softball and going to school and later I cheered with her younger sister.  And not only do I get to reconnect with those friends, but I get to know their families as well.  It’s really crazy seeing everyone all grown up with their own families.  Some of their kids are almost the same ages that we were when we met.

Nicole is the mom to three wonderful kids.  I had so much fun with them!  Her youngest, Gracie, is just a couple of weeks older than Brayden.  I don’t know how she does it with 3 when I can barely handle one.  But, they are all so well mannered and fun!  I especially had a great time with Kate.  She’s at such a fun age where she likes getting her picture taken and takes direction so well.  She was a huge help with handling wild child, Vince, and getting him to smile for me!  Poor kid busted his chin open a couple of days ago.  Sad for him, but I’m happy it happened after our shoot :)

So, here’s your blog, Nicole!  I know you’ve been waiting anxiously!  And enjoy your slideshow too!
