It’s very hard to take your own baby’s pictures (especially after a c-section), but I’ve enjoyed getting to play around with her!  I’m looking forward to our official newborn shoot tomorrow!

Here are just a few that I’ve taken over the last week.

Thanks to Julie for the unbelievably cute baby bed!

Our original due dates were just a week a part.  At 14 weeks she snuck me into a hospital after hours to get an ultrasound to find out what we were having.  It was a little sketchy, but totally worth it because that was the first time I got to see I was having a baby girl.  I cried happy tears, but didn’t quite believe it until my next ultrasound at 18 weeks.  Julie had already found out the week before she was having a boy.  After 4 girls the Carson’s were finally getting their boy!

I’ve had so much fun being on this pregnancy journey with Julie.  Getting to help them announce to their friends and family that they were pregnant.  Telling the girls for the first time.  Announcing that she was having a boy.  Going out for ice cream cravings (even though she didn’t inform me until we were there that she wasn’t allowed to have carbs and then proceeded to throw up the following day).  And now, 37ish weeks later, Julie gets to meet her baby boy this Friday.  I’m so thrilled for them!

Julie doesn’t do maternity shoots or belly shots, but I thought it would be fun to do one last shoot of all the girls together before blue invades their pink, sparkly lives.  Doing something fun and girly together.  These girly girls had a bit of an issue getting dirty at first, but they loved it be the end!  To say their kitchen was a disaster at the end of the shoot is an understatement!

Julie, I know you’re a little bit nervous about being the mom to a boy.  But, I promise it’s amazing.  Boys love their mama’s with all their hearts.  You’re walking into a whole new world of trains, baseballs, farts, dinosaurs, cars, and wee wee jokes.  And it’s fun.  I pinky promise.  Just remember to point the wee wee down in the diaper.  Took me awhile to figure that one out   This baby is going to be the luckiest boy in the world coming into your family.  I can’t wait to meet him!  Here’s the slideshow!

Hello Friends!

If you didn’t already know, I am expecting a baby in August.  I will be taking maternity leave August and September and will be returning back to work October 1st.  I am currently booked for portrait sessions through the end of the year and am booking for January 2012.

Newborn Clients – I do have a few spots left for newborn sessions this Fall.  If you are thinking about booking a newborn session please do so ASAP as I am only taking a limited number of sessions in the Fall.

Portrait Clients – If you are interested in getting on the wait list for portrait sessions please email drew@drewbphotography.com and I will put you on the wait list.  I may open up a couple of “mini session” dates and I will announce them here on my blog as well as my Facebook page if I decide to do so.

Prospective Wedding Clients – I will do my best to answer your inquiries in a timely matter while I’m on leave.  I will not be holding any client meetings for the month of August, but will most likely begin to schedule meetings again in September.

Current Wedding and Portrait Clients – Please feel free to contact me at any point during my maternity leave.  I will get back to you, it might just take me a little longer than usual as I get adjusted to being a mom of 2  If you have print orders I would get those in ASAP!  I will still be processing print orders, but it will take me longer than normal to get them to you.

I still have a few sessions to blog and I’m waiting on 3 newborns to be born before I officially start my leave.  So, please check back for those sessions and of course for pictures of our new baby girl when she arrives!

In recent weeks the South has been hammered by the worst storms and tornadoes to hit the area since the 1970′s and then ravaged by historic floods. With over 300 people losing their lives and thousands left homeless, the devastation from these tragic events has been weighing heavily on my heart. I wanted to do something BIG to help the people who were directly effected. Together with Angie Sandy, from Photo Card Boutique, and nearly 30 generous sponsors we have come together together to form Soul 4 the South. This virtual gift basket totals over $3700 in prizes!!!

We have chosen Beremedy as the charity, which will benefit from the fundraiser. Beremedy is located in Atlanta, Georgia. They are close to the destruction and are able to assess who urgently needs aid. 100% of the donations will go directly to the flood and tornado victims!

Baby Bittel #2 is coming this August!  We’re super excited!  Especially Brayden.  He can’t wait to be a big brother!

What this means for my clients – I will be taking maternity leave from mid July through October 1st.  As of right now I plan on taking a very limited number of sessions in the Fall.  If you know you want family pictures I would suggest booking ASAP.  Dates are already booking up.  Please book early!  I hate having to turn people away!

Nichole, or Cho as we affectionatly call her, married Kit.  They dated for a second in high school and lost touch as they both went off to college.  Fast forward 10 years.  Cho was in the middle of her peds residency at Stanford (I know, she’s smart) and she came down to Southern California for her 10 year reunion.  She almost didn’t even go.  But Cho and my other good friend, Christy, went.  There she reconnected with Kit and they spent the whole night in their own little world.  The next day Kit sent Christy an email (which she saved and read during her awesome toast at the reception) asking Christy if he really had a shot with Nichole.  Obviously, he did.

I wasn’t the wedding photographer, but I had a great time helping Nichole find the perfect one for her.  They hired Natalie Norton for their big day (can’t wait to see the pics!).  I was lucky enough to hang out with Nichole and Christy as they got ready and snapped a few pictures.  That was really special for me because Nichole was one of my bridesmaids and I was so excited I got to be there with her on her big day.  I took just a few pictures during the ceremony (because I didn’t want to be that annoying “Uncle Bob” with a fancy camera!).  Most of them I took from my chair so I didn’t get in the way (and so my husband didn’t get mad at me!).

The day couldn’t have been more perfect.  Well, if the officiant would have shown up I suppose that would have made it the perfect day.  It’s okay.  They found a replacement pretty quick.  That’s another story though  Turtle Bay is the perfect backdrop for a wedding.  Big thanks to Nichole and Kit for giving us a reason to take a trip there!  Who wants to have a fun destination wedding next year?

After I took this picture I had to walk away because I started to tear up and didn’t want Cho to see me.  It’s when it really hit me that she was getting married and I felt so lucky to be there!

I loved Nichole’s super simple J Crew dress.  It was totally  her.

The sunglasses / favors were a hit!

At the rehearsal the night before, the flower girls wouldn’t practice walking down the aisle because they said it wasn’t really a wedding and they knew how to do it!  They were still a little hesitant on the wedding day

I loved their aisle.  One of the prettiest flower aisles I’ve ever seen!

I’m so proud of this picture!  At the rehearsal I gave Cho and Kit explicit instructions to look happy and look at each other when walking back down the aisle.  I hate it when couples look at me or look like a deer caught in headlights when they walk back down the aisle.  Cho and Kit did perfect!  I love the way Kit is looking at Nichole!
