The Chandler Family

Mary contacted me a few months ago and asked me to shoot her family’s pictures at Disneyland.  Engagement sessions I’ve done at Disneyland before and they are tough.  You have to shoot around the crowds.  People walk in front of you.  The light isn’t my most favorite.  And then I thought about throwing kids into the mix… Basically I told Mary I thought it was a bad idea.  She convinced me to try it and I must admit that Mary was right.  Disneyland was perfect for her family.  You can tell that Disneyland holds a very special place in Mary’s heart.  She has many great childhood memories from going there with her family and I love how she is carrying that on with her own children.

We got very lucky with the weather.  The week prior to our shoot the weather said rain.  But, we waited it out and decided the night before it was a go although weather.com still said rain.  And guess what?  We got no rain!  Because everyone else thought it was supposed to be raining the park was as empty as Disneyland can possibly ever be.

Thanks to the Chandler family for being so awesome and dealing with the crazy weather!  I had a blast and I hope you all did too!  Here’s your slideshow!

Be very careful when riding backwards on Thunder Mountain!  Almost lost my brand spakin’ new 16 – 35!  Yikes!  And also, I think I got whip lash!  Dangerous!  But, I love the shot :)

Colorado Or Bust!

I am heading over to Denver to attend the JVS Speedlight workshop.  I LOVE natural light, but one of my goals this year was to expand my knowledge of off camera lighting and flash.  So, I’m super excited about attending this workshop!  I’m sure I’ll have pictures to share when I return!

For now here are two sessions that will be blogged next week…

Karen and Alex

Karen and Alex met at church just before graduating from their respective colleges. Shockingly they dated and fell in love although Alex is a Bruin (yeah!) and Karen is a Trojan (boo!). I don’t know how a Bruin could possibly marry a Trojan :)  But, I seem to have a lot of these couples lately so they must not be that bad!  Good thing Karen’s negative quality (her Trojaness) is outweighed by her positive qualities – beauty, brains, and a great sense of humor! Poor Alex is forced to go many USC football games, though. That’s love!

We had a lot of fun exploring Laguna Beach together and had beautiful weather after it had just rained the day before.  I love shooting in Laguna, but when I was first starting my business I shot there all the time.  It’s hard to not shoot at the same places.  I had a fun time challenging myself to make Laguna look different and find new places to shoot!  I love shooting there this time of year because it’s so beautiful, but we don’t have to deal with the insane amount of people who will flock there in a month or two!

Karen and Alex were referred to me by one of my all time most favorite couples, Ki and Andrew! It will be great to see them at Alex and Karen’s August wedding in Pasadena!

Thanks, Karen and Alex for spending a beautiful afternoon in Laguna with me! I can’t wait for your wedding! Here’s your slideshow!
