Natallie & Amar

Wow!  What a great way to start wedding season!  Natallie and Amar were married this past Saturday at Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach.  Pelican Hill just underwent a 5 year renovation and, wow, it was worth the wait!  The resort is stunning and is built for weddings!  From the gorgeous rotunda that overlooks the ocean to the beautiful bridal suite that is centrally located, no detail was overlooked.  And the staff was so attentive and friendly.  I just have nothing, but good things to say about Pelican Hill!  And of course working with my most favorite coordinator ever, Jeannie from Details Details, made the day run even more seamlessly!

For those of you who didn’t see their engagement session, Natallie and Amar are from Vancouver (eh?) so this was a destination wedding for them and their guests.  I was a little worried about the weather, but it turned out to be a gorgeous and sunny Southern California day for them!  It goes to show what amazing people Natallie and Amar are because over 150 people came all the way from Canada for their wedding.  That really says a lot!

I’ve been looking forward to Natallie and Amar’s wedding for so long not just because I love the two of them so much and I knew that the wedding was going to be amazing, but also because my best friend, Aylin, was a bridesmaid.  Aylin lives in New York now so I don’t get to see her much, which makes me very sad, but it was great to get to spend the day with her.  Thanks so much for referring Natallie and I to each other!

Okay, onto the wedding!  This blog is going to be a three parter because I have so many favorite images!

The Gown

The Shoes – I’m not a shoe girl myself, but I would die to own a pair of these shoes.  Someday…

The flowers by White Lilac (Just wait until you see the reception… Just wait!)

The Rings

The Bride – Natallie has such a classic beauty.  I didn’t see how she could get any prettier, but her hair and makeup team did a fabulous job making her one of the most beautiful brides I’ve ever seen.

Chris Hanley did her hair

And Kimberly Bosso did the makeup

A last minute text message

Natallie’s parents seeing her for the first time

See that bling on her wrist?  That’s what was in the red box from her parents.  Stunning!

And last, but not least, the handsome Groom and his Groomsmen

And here’s a sneak peek of the ceremony coming up soon!

A Day With Jose

Last week my friend Trista and I headed up to Solvang for a workshop with Jose Villa.  I think it’s so important for photographers to educate themselves and learn from other photographers who inspire them.  And Jose is one of the photographers who continually inspires me.  His work is so effortless.  It’s clean and simple with no heavy photoshopping (he’s a film photographer).  Every image is just beautiful.

I had a great time learning and meeting new photographers.  The great thing about workshops is you not only learn from the photographer who is teaching, but also from the other photographers who attend.  Jose was so open and giving.  It was a rad day.  And it was even radder because Trista and I sped home in less than 3 hours and made it for the last half hour of the Britney concert!  OMG!  I was 20 all over again screaming, “I love you, Britney!”.  It was a great day!  Thanks, Jose!  And also a special thanks to Mar with T.E.A.M Hair & Make-up, Renae’s Bouquet, and our awesome models Jocilyn, Mark, and Natalie.

You’ll remember this cute little guy from his session with his sister a couple of weeks ago. Oliver is just the cutest! He reminds me so much of Brayden with his eyes and mannerisms. They are both such happy babies! It’s crazy to think that they are only 6 months apart. 6 months in baby time is a long time, but someday they will probably be in the same grade! I would love that! Here are a few of my favorites!
